What Is Concrete Grinding?

Concrete grinding is a process that uses a concrete grinder to smooth and level concrete surfaces. It removes imperfections like uneven floors, scratches, and old coatings to prepare floors for further treatment or new flooring installations. Concrete grinding is also required to remove glue and paint from concrete floors.

Serious Flooring uses this process to remove all types of glues, paints, sealers and waterproofing membranes off concrete slabs. This process is also used to level highs in concrete slabs up to 3mm, grind expansion joints level and prepare surfaces for applying the levelling compound.

Why Do I Need Concrete Grinding?

If you are looking to lay any direct stick floor covering on a concrete slab, you must first check that the concrete slab is clean and level.

Floor coverings such as tiles, vinyl, timber and cork need a clean, smooth and porous slab to bond to. Any residue between the concrete and the new adhesive will affect the quality and durability of the floor covering.

How Long Does Concrete Grinding Take?

Typically, our team can grind floors at a rate of 10-20 square metres per hour. This depends on the type of material you are grinding and how thick it is.

Will Concrete Grinding Remove Stains Or Marks?

Yes, concrete grinding can effectively remove stains or marks from a concrete surface. The grinding process wears down the top layer of concrete, taking stains or marks with it. This works for shallow stains but may require deeper grinding for tougher blemishes.
